The Online News Association’s 2019 Conference & Awards Banquet, to be held Sept. 11-14, in New Orleans, is the world’s largest gathering of highly engaged digital journalists who are shaping the future of journalism and technology. We anticipate hosting more than 2,800 publishers, technologists, newsroom decision-makers, educators, designers, product managers, innovators and all types of digital media professionals as part of our annual event – which we are bringing to the Big Easy for the first time.

Diamond Package

Coffee + Tea Bar —  (2 available) $10,000 (5th floor) $5,000 (2nd floor) + All F&B Costs

A destination with guaranteed foot traffic (and appreciation!). Provide coffee service for conference attendees at the most popular spots at ONA19. Sponsor receives a large, dedicated foyer lounge space adjacent to beverage service in one of two foyer spaces in the New Orleans Sheraton. Sponsor is responsible for all costs related to hotel coffee service, which is $108 per gallon plus fees, for a recommended 2 breaks per day of coffee and tea, paid directly to the hotel. A minimum of one coffee/tea service (estimated to be 70 gallons) per day is required as part of this sponsorship. There is no additional exhibit space included in this sponsorship. Mobile App

Conference attendees will get the latest information on all ONA19 activities from this mobile web application. The ONA18 app was downloaded by 80% of attendees. For ONA19, we will be not providing a printed conference guide in an effort to push all attendees to use the app to plan for and navigate the conference.

New this year! ONA has expanded opportunities for sponsored workshops into Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the Intercontinental Hotel, located about a block from the New Orleans Sheraton. These sessions, to be held Wednesday afternoon, will be listed as part of our official schedule and can be RSVP-only, if the host chooses. One two-hour block of time for each session/workshop, with seating for 200-240 guests (lecture set-up). Includes room with A/V (screen, mic, mixer, projector) and wireless. Lightning Session Sponsor (Sponsored by Trisolute News Dashboard)

Sponsor popular session created and voted on by conference attendees. Midway Opportunities

The Midway is made up of two spaces: an exhibiting space that includes a spotlight on start-ups under two years old, and a programming area featuring thematic panel discussions and short demos. This year the Midway exhibit and programming space will be hosted in the same location as the exhibit/sponsor lounge space — the 3rd floor of the New Orleans Sheraton.

Midway panels focus on topics of importance to the ONA community, with participants leading discussions in their areas of expertise.  Only groups selected to be a part of the Midway will lead these conversations.

Midway Speakeasy (Sponsored by Alley)

Host the official happy hour event of the Midway, to be held Friday afternoon, Sept. 13, as part of your 10’x15’ lounge space in the Midway in the Napoleon Ballroom.  Sponsor gets 200 drink tickets to distribute to guests. All beverages and bar service fees are included in the package price. Event will be on the ONA19 official schedule. Sponsor benefits also include:

Start-up spaces are designed to introduce new or emerging companies and tools to the ONA audience. Companies must be two years old or newer to qualify.  Package includes:

  • Table-top space (one 6×2 table & two chairs) in the Midway space in the Napoleon Ballroom at the New Orleans Sheraton.  No stand-alone backdrops or banners exceeding 5 feet in width, no pipe-and-drape

We ask that Start-Ups commit to a single day at their Midway booth: either Thursday, Sept. 12, or Friday, Sept. 13.

The Start-up Space includes shared use of a 10 amp electric drop and power strip between 2 tables. If you would like to have a dedicated drop or any additional A/V requirements, you will need to order directly from PSAV and 10 amp is the minimum level.

NOTE: Speakers for any event at ONA19, including sponsored sessions and meal events, must be registered for ONA19 with a full conference, student or exhibit/Midway-only badge.    

All conference sessions must uphold and further the educational, professional development, and diversity goals of ONA19, regardless of whether they are selected via the Suggestion Box or organized by ONA, sponsors or Midway participants.

Passes to the Opening Night Reception, not included in exhibit-only passes, can be purchased for $50 each and must be purchased in advance of the event.

Wireless is included for all ONA19 sponsors, exhibitors and Midway participants, but hard-line Internet and power drops require additional fees, paid directly to the hotel.

Dedicated ONA19 Blog Ads — $800

Ads will run in content developed by ONA staff and ONA partners leading up to and during ONA19, with high value to the ONA audience. These posts will be displayed on the ONA19 website and shared via ONA social media platforms.

ONA19 Newsletter  — Inquire for pricing

Reach 11,500+ opt-in readers in the digital media space around the world in the months leading up to the annual event. Because of the dedicated audience, this newsletter sees a higher engagement rate on average (30%+) and in September our average open rate is 58.6% and click rate is 18.2%. One ad per issue, with discounts for multi-issue runs.

ONA19 Conference Daily — $1,250 per ad/issue

We launched this opportunity at ONA18 with great success! The newsletter goes only to conference registrants (estimated 3,000 for 2019) during the three days of the conference. The ONA18 daily newsletter saw open rates of 53%/avg and CTR of 11%/avg. Two ads available per issue.

Attendee Bag Item/Non-Paper — $1,250

One non-paper insert or promotional item (provided by the sponsor) for the official ONA19 attendee gift bag. Sponsor is responsible for shipping, ONA covers receiving fees and places items in attendee bags. As part of our efforts to be paper-light, any attendee bag drop shipment sent to Freeman warehouse that contains pamphlets, flyers, postcards or related materials will not be included in ONA swag bags.  Suggested total: 2,500 pieces, sent in as few boxes as possible.

Paper-based Handouts — $1,000

One paper insert or promotional item (provided by the sponsor) which will be placed on official ONA19 information tables outside the keynote/large format ballrooms on the 5th floor of the Sheraton New Orleans. Sponsor is responsible for shipping and receiving fees or delivering these materials to the hotel and can place these materials on the designated tables starting Sept. 11; ONA will coordinate on storage and replenishment during the conference.  All other items will be removed from these tables. Suggested print run: 1500.

ONA19 Sponsored Blog Content — $2,000

Sponsor will be responsible for producing content with high value to the ONA audience, which includes members, attendees, potential attendees and other interested parties in the digital journalism community. These posts will be displayed on the ONA19 website and shared via ONA social media platforms. Details:

  • Sponsor produces editorial content, up to 500 words, for one blog post
  • Can include embedded links, video, audio and art
  • ONA will review content prior to publishing
