Submit your pitches for Lightning Talks and the ONA19 Unconference

Want to present at ONA19? As we draw closer to the conference, there are two unique opportunities for you to share your thoughts and ideas with the ONA community in New Orleans.

Pitches for each are due by Thursday, Sept. 5 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. Attendees at the conference will vote for their favorites, and the top vote-getters will present on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 4 p.m. (please be sure you’ll be in attendance at that time).

Lightning Talks

Bring your most innovative ideas to ONA19! Each year we invite attendees to deliver fun, five-minute lightning talks aligned to a specific theme — this year, we’re asking “What will newsrooms look like in 10 years’ time (in terms of roles, structure, physical space, etc)?”

All conference attendees are welcome to apply. You can listen to ONA18’s session and also see the selected speakers here to get an idea of what pitches have been successful.

Unconference

Tell us what what’s missing from the schedule! These hour-long, open sessions are a chance for you to propose and lead conversations on topics we may not have covered elsewhere in the conference programming.

There’s a cap of three presenters per pitch. Since ONA is all about collaboration and diversity, we encourage you to find others with interesting backgrounds and ideas to join your pitch. You can search for “unconference” on last year’s schedule page to see what sessions were most popular with voters.
