Need some time away from the intensity of the conference? Ever been the only journalist of color in the room? Want to meet others across the country?

\nOpen News and the Journalist of Color Slack invite you to a semi-formal setting with arts and crafts and a comfy space to relax and recuperate. Meet other journalists of color from across the country and hang out in a space where you can just be.

\nAdditionally, we'll have corners of the room where you can talk frankly about salary issues, your career, and building a communities locally. Join us for:

\nWork advice clinic: 2:30-3:30 with Disha and Ryan

\n<\/strong>Got an issue at work or want to put together a game plan to advance your career? In this session, we will talk through and help you get what you need the most to make the next great thing happen for your career. We'll kick it off at 2:30 with a group discussion to brainstorm ways we can help each other reach our career goals.

\nFacilitating inclusive community spaces: 3:30-4 with Lam, Erika, Lo, Sisi and Julia

\n<\/strong>Do you have questions about how to convene a virtual or in person event that is inclusive and welcoming? Come chat with OJA Community Award recipients about lessons from the JOC Slack and OpenNews communities. Starting at 3:30, we'll have a facilitated chat with recipients with time for your questions, too.

\nSalary corner: 4-4:50 with Lam

\n<\/strong>We're gonna gather up post its of real salaries to bring visibility to what is out there. Come and share your salary, your questions about negotiation, and your experiences with salary and getting a new job. Starting at 4, we'll have a facilitated discussion based on what folks have shared. We will also share salary information from official sources: union contracts, union studies and 990 filings.
